sea glass for sale

by

seaglass.jpg I discovered the lovely North American Sea Glass Association in this article today. It’s a collective of beachcombers selling sea glass jewelry and bulk sea glass all over the world. In fact, the West Coast Sea Glass Association even buys sea glass. Check out all the pretty colors on their handy rarity chart.

    Hi,

I am a member of the North American Sea Glass Association and have been making sea glass jewelry for a living for over twenty years. The garbage I have witnessed on the beaches of thirld world countries is heart wrenching. I recently learned of the great pacific garbage patch in the north pacific gyre. It all leaves me wondering how we are going to get our planet back together!

    Hi,

Thanks Leila! I am just stopping by to let everyone know that the North American Sea Glass Association will be hosting their annual sea glass festival in Lewes, Delaware this year. The dates are October 11th-12th. Here is a link with all of the information http://seaglassassociation.org/SeaGlassFestival.php

Also Mary Beth Bueke, who is the president of the North American Sea Glass Association was interviewed by National Geographic about sea glass and the article is in the current issue – August 2008.

I recently read two books about sailing around the world alone. What all sailors to the North Atlantic “garbage circle” report as incredible probably would be needed to be seen by our own eyes to fully grasp the situation.

On the other hand are the limited few who are able to recycle “garbage” into useful items…like sea glass crafts and jewelry!
