    That’s a great idea! Motorola does something similar with broken cell phones, any brand. My company provides cell phones for many of its employees, and while I was the telecom administrator, I started us sending all of our dead phones (we’ve sent about 60 this year) in for this: http://www.racetorecycle.com/index.asp.
