I’m not big on product pimping here, but among the flood of supposedly eco-themed press releases this week was one from a company selling seltzer bottles and soda syrups. The eco-pitch: use fewer plastic bottles by making soda at home. Scanning the site made me nostalgic for a) the old fashioned CO2 cartridge selzer bottle my grandparents kept on the bar for mixing with whiskey and b) the similar bottle we had at home, which I used to mix up raspberry shrub.

I love my penguin soda maker! I don’t buy the syrups. They all come in plastic. I do have a couple tiny glass bottles of “flavor essence” which doesn’t add any sweetness, kind of just the idea of flavor.
Here’s my review, if you’re considering buying one. And no, I’m not getting paid, but yes, they did send me one for free just cuz.

and does the cola flavor taste good?

yep! I really like it! But as the light version doesn’t exist and aspartam not being my favorite, I put in lesser syrop and add a few drops of stevia…lesser cola calories and great sweet taste!

I’ll have to try that out. Mine should arrive soon!
