Watching Majora Carter‘s TEDTalk on the way to work today reminded me why I’m such a big fan of this local environmental revolutionary. She articulates better than anyone what it’s like to live in the “away” other people never picture when they throw things away, the lasting legacy of Robert Moses and the impact his reign over New York City planning and expansion had on her neighborhood and how she has led a community effort to fight back and “green the ghetto.”

Did you happen to catch the propaganda that CBS new perpetuated during the Obama campaign where they spoke to 4 black porters who totally supported Obama.I wonder if they are disillusioned with his total support of wallstreet and little support of main street based on the policy and actions IE Ben Bernake reinstated and bailouts givin to all the members of goldman sachs.I hear what this woman is saying and her story is touching but if some way this connects to the idea of the co option of environmentalism by the likes of folks like Al Gore and his carbon tax which will fund the elite and continue to oppress the poor then her just honest cause to will be product of co option.

I thought she offered a bold critique of Gore during her talk.
