From Voice of America: “Born in Brussels, Sister Emmanuelle lived and worked with a scavenger community in Cairo for more than 20 years. She founded an association that built a school and provided trucks for the Zabbaleen community there, which has become internationally known for its recycling practices.”

the strangest thing is that those people she helped, living on the big mountains of trash we made, are considered themselves to be trash…and she, bless her soul, helped them to get “recycled”‘…
People should never ever live this way! a big loss to this world that she is gone….

Very true. This is inspiring me to post more on the Zabbaleen. I’ve been interested in learning more about the community for a long time now.
